Suitable Applications and How to Use
Pontti Floor Lacquer 5 is designed for interior wooden floors and other wood surfaces in residential spaces subject to light mechanical and chemical wear. Suitable applications include timber and plank flooring, parquet floors, stairs and floors in summer houses.
Preparation: Ensure the timber is clean, dry and properly sanded. Remove dust and contaminants before application. When applying over stained wood or an existing lacquer finish, test the product on a small, inconspicuous area first to check compatibility and appearance.
Application: Stir the lacquer thoroughly before use. Apply evenly with a suitable brush or roller, working along the direction of the wood grain and treating a few boards at a time. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling over areas that have started to dry. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the specific surface and coating system.
Recoating: The lacquer becomes dust-dry in approximately one hour. Apply subsequent coats after around 4–8 hours, once the previous coat is sufficiently dry.
Curing and aftercare: The surface is generally ready for use the following day, but reaches its final hardness and resistance after approximately two weeks. During this period, avoid heavy loads, cleaning, rugs and heavy or sticking objects that could damage the finish.
