Location: Wadebridge, Cornwall
Reporting to: Store Manager
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm, plus Saturdays from 9:00am – 3:00pm on a one-in-three rota basis.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Store Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of our Wadebridge store, helping customers find the right products and solutions for their decorating projects.

​

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines face-to-face customer service, paint mixing, product advice, sales and general showroom duties. You will work with a diverse customer base, from professional decorators and trade customers to homeowners undertaking their own projects.

​

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working in a paint-mixing environment and a background in decorating retail. Most importantly, you will be reliable, personable, enthusiastic and passionate about paint, with a genuine desire to deliver an excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

​​

• Deliver exceptional customer service to both trade and retail customers, creating a welcoming and professional experience in-store.

• Provide knowledgeable advice on paints, colours, finishes, decorating products and suitable solutions for customers' projects.

• Operate paint-mixing and colour-matching equipment accurately and efficiently, ensuring customers receive the correct products and colours.

• Handle customer enquiries professionally and confidently, whether face-to-face, over the telephone or by email.

• Process sales, quotations and customer orders accurately, maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

• Build strong, lasting relationships with customers by understanding their needs and offering helpful, informed recommendations.

• Maintain excellent standards of showroom presentation, product displays, stock organisation and general housekeeping.

• Support stock control, deliveries, replenishment and other day-to-day store operations as required.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure a consistent, customer-focused approach.

• Keep up to date with product knowledge, new ranges and industry developments through ongoing training.

• Contribute positively to the team's culture and help maintain the high standards that underpin our continued growth.

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience in a decorating retail environment.

• Experience of paint mixing and colour matching, ideally within a professional paint or decorating centre.

• A genuine passion for paint, colour and decorating products.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• The confidence to communicate professionally with customers in person, over the phone and by email.

• A friendly, personable and approachable manner.

• A reliable, organised and proactive attitude, with a strong work ethic.

• Good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately in a busy retail environment.

• A positive, team-focused outlook and the willingness to support colleagues.

• A desire to learn, develop product knowledge and build a long-term career with The Paint Shop Cornwall.

Previous experience in a trade paint centre or specialist decorating retailer would be a distinct advantage.
